April 9, 2018
The meeting starts at 7:00 PM
Show and Tell at 6:30 PM
This month is our Mini-Symposium which provides an opportunity for each Guild member to STRUT THEIR STUFF by showing off their own hand-crafted woodworking tools, jigs, and appliances.
I will be bringing a pair of Number 8 Hollows and Rounds molding planes, some dovetail jigs, a Moxon vice, a saw horse and a bench-top mini-bench that gets the work higher up so I don't have to bend over so much when doing inlay and fine detail work.
What have you made to help make your woodworking easier, safer and more accurate? Bring it/them to the April 9th Guild meeting and impress all your friends and Guild members. Be prepared for questions such as; How did you do that? Where can I get the plans? Will you help me make one?
Also, at the March meeting, I announced that our Guild has been asked to make twelve (12) nightstands for the Betsy Ross House at the Orting Soldiers Home. The Betsy Ross House has recently undergone extensive remodel and twelve female veterans will be moving in soon. They have some furniture but, need a nightstand each. Member Dan Neyens has found a nice simple design we can build. Member Bob Arnold has offered to donate some very nice alder. Dan and I will mill the lumber and prepare it in bundles so all you have to do is cut to final size, assemble and finish, A womens' American Legion Post will provide the drawer hardware.
