Get ready to dip your toes into sock knitting! If you're comfortable with the knit stitch (and sometimes purl) you are just a few fun techniques away from creating your first socks. Open yourself up to a fun, rewarding, and often addictive niche of knitting. Socks are a great place to showcase smaller amounts of colorwork, highlight gorgeous handpainted yarns, and test out lace, cable, and complex stitch patterns on a smaller canvas.
Techniques covered in this class set will include knitting in the round using DP (double-pointed) needles, creating the heel flap and turning the heel, creating the gusset, shaping the toe, and binding off with the Kitchener Stitch.
Students must come prepared with the following items so that we can start knitting at the top of the first class:
- Approximately 100 grams of fingering-weight (sock) yarn, already in a ball or wound into a cake and ready to go
- Set of 5 US #2/2.5mm double-point needles
- Stitch marker
- Tapestry needle
All items available at Fabrications at a 5% discount for class participants.
