Michael Poulin was the first American trainer to coach an American rider, on an American trained horse, to international competition and an Olympic team. That rider was 2-time Olympian Lendon Gray with her horse Beppo. Together, Lendon and Michael trained multiple horses to Grand Prix, winning countless national titles at every level along the way.
Carol Lavell is another one of Mr. Poulin’s success stories. Lavell and Poulin trained many horses together, culminating in the two being teammates on the Bronze Medal-winning Olympic Team in 1992. Both Mr. Poulin and Carol rode horses they trained from the
beginning, Graf George and Gifted, respectively.
