Fashion Illustration is back in vogue. To coincide with the Louise-Dahl Wolfe photography exhibition, come and meet the fashion illustrators who graced the front covers and pages of the international fashion press during the post-war period. From the elegance of Gruau, Bouché and Erickson to the dynamism of Antonio Lopez and Kenneth Paul Block, their drawings brought to life the work of Dior, Balenciaga and Yves Saint Laurent. At the same time, these illustrators enhanced the fortunes of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar plus leading department stores including Liberty, Printemps, Saks 5th Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman through their masterful strokes.

The astonishing talents of these great masters are now celebrated as the missing school of 20th century art and inspire today’s leading fashion illustrators as fashion illustration once again features internationally as a key communicator of fashion interpretation. Through this fascinating talk the work of these 20th and 21st century masters will be brought to life.

Connie Gray is at the forefront of promoting the importance of fashion illustration through lectures and exhibitions held by Gray M.C.A in London, Palm Beach and New York annually. Gray M.C.A was invited to hold an exclusive preview of their 2017 New York ‘Drawing on Style’ Exhibition on board the Cunard Flagship ‘Queen Mary 2’ for their Transatlantic Fashion Week crossing attended by Julian Macdonald, Iris Apfel & Colin McDowell MBE.

The event starts at 6pm with a glass of wine in the Museum foyer and opportunity to view the current exhibition Louise Dahl Wolfe. The talk follows at 6.15pm for 6.20pm in the Fashion Studio and lasts for approximately one hour including an opportunity to ask questions. Ticket includes admission to the exhibition and guests are welcome to view this before or after the talk.

Price £15 / £12 students includes a complimentary drink and exhibition entry.
