Discover vintage costume jewellery, what to look for, where to find it, and how to restore it with expert collector Liz Wilson.
Every piece of vintage jewellery tells a unique story. Liz Wilson, owner of Eclectica Vintage, joins the Museum for a special evening to share her top tips for finding and buying different eras of costume jewellery. As part of The Fashion and Textile Museum’s Louise Dahl-Wolfe exhibition talks, Liz Wilson shares over 25 years of experience hand-sourcing mid-20th century jewellery. She highlights the variety of ways in which vintage pieces can be repaired and restored, and provides insights into the secondary market through her relationship with John Lewis Retail.
The evening includes an opportunity to ask questions plus a handling session with the Eclectica collection of original, vintage pieces. Finally, there will be a selection of 1930s, 1940s and 1950s jewellery curated to complement the Louise Dahl-Wolfe exhibition that will be available to purchase from the Museum shop. For lovers of jewellery design, budding entrepreneurs and vintage buyers, this discussion is a rare opportunity to make the most of a leading expert’s knowledge, taste and experience.
The event starts at 6pm with a glass of wine in the Museum foyer and opportunity to view the Louise Dahl-Wolfe exhibition. The talk follows at 6.15pm for 6.20pm in the Fashion Studio and lasts for approximately one hour including an opportunity to ask questions. Ticket includes admission to the exhibition and guests are welcome to view this before or after the talk.
