Participants can bring their own 35mm black and white film and their own 35mm SLR camera. Otherwise, 2 cameras and black and white film will be shared among the participants.
This workshop is open to beginners and advanced photographers alike. No prior knowledge is required.
About the workshop:
An introduction to 35mm black and white film photography with hands on learning about developing your own film negative and printing your photographs on photographic paper. Participants will take home their own prints (2-3) at the end of the workshop.
Day 1 (Theory/Practice)
- Working with film camera and light metering for b&w photography.
- Intro to the darkroom: mixing and working with chemicals to process the film and photo paper.
Day 2 (Shoot/Develop)
- Heading out to the streets to shoot subjects and returning back to studio for film processing in the darkroom.
Day 3 (Darkroom/Print)
- Intro to the enlarger and printing your own photographs.
About our instructor:
Jagadish Upadhya has received his degree in photography from Seattle College. He began his career as an apprentice to several famed photographers in The United States and continued his career as a fine art photographer. He has also exhibited in numerous galleries throughout the United States.
