#var:page_name# cover

Join Finjan for a day of hiking through Jerusalem's famous wilderness oasis of Wadi Qelt and discover the rich monastic traditions of the hanging monasteries that have defined the landscape between Jerusalem and Jericho.

This season we will be hiking the upper areas of Wadi Qelt, one of Jerusalem’s special oasis scapes that lines the route between the holy city and Jericho in the northern Judean Desert. The visit will begin with a visit to the hanging monastery of St. George – tucked deep in the ravines of Wadi Qelt – before we hike our way from the upper areas of Wadi Qelt from the monastery of Ein Farrah to Ein Mabuah.

As the weather gets increasingly hotter, this is a great way to cool off in the springs of the desert and to learn about the area’s unique history and centuries-old traditions of solitude and isolation within the monastic traditions that define this special refuge.

In year’s past, we have hiked the lower areas closer to Jericho, but this year, we decided to give a different perspective by exploring the upper areas around the national park of Ein Pratt. Finjan will cover the entrance fee to the park, which we have included in the price.

This is a full day of hiking. Hikers should be prepared to get their feet wet! Total distance is 10KM hiking.
