New Bible Study starting up!

Imagine that you are writing a letter to a bunch of Christians in Washington, DC. They are new to the faith and just learning what it means to follow Jesus. They are in a city whose currency is power. The world seems to be spinning around them and they wonder what Jesus has to do with it all. Oh, and you've never met them before but they have heard about you and will take whatever you say as an authoritative word on the Gospel. Think about that pressure! What would write?

That is a pretty close analogy to what is happening in the Book of Romans. Paul is writing to new Christians trying to understand and live out their faith in the seat of empire. He has never met them before but they are eager to learn from him. The scripture we have is his teaching to them about who Jesus is, what God has done in Christ, and how what it means for his followers. It is an astonishing and inspiring book.

Wednesdays at noon and Thursdays at 5:45 pm in the FCC Library, we'll dive deep into this to the Romans. Both studies cover the same ground, so come whenever is convenient for your schedule.

If you haven't been to Bible study before then this is a great time to jump in. The format is conversational. Questions are encouraged. Understanding comes from reading and discussing scripture together. There's nothing to read in advance. It is truly both fun and spiritually formative!

See you then,
Rev. Beau
