In celebration of spring and the return of baseball season, Flathead Valley Community College’s Library invites the community to a book reading by historian, author and baseball aficionado Rob Bauer. “The Boys of Summer Are Back: A Celebration of Baseball History” is scheduled for Thursday, April 12 at 7 p.m. in the FVCC Library, located in the Learning Resource Center.

Bauer, a history professor at FVCC, recently published two books about baseball history: “Outside the Lines of Gilded Age Baseball: Gambling, Umpires & Racism in 1880s Baseball” and “Outside the Lines of Gilded Age Baseball: Alcohol, Fitness, and Cheating in 1880s Baseball.” In addition to reading passages, he will discuss the research and writing of the two books.

The evening will also include refreshments and a baseball history trivia game with prizes awarded to top players. The event is free and appropriate for baseball lovers of all ages.

Copies of Bauer’s books can be purchased at the FVCC Bookstore in Blake Hall or at www.fvccbookstore.com.
