Paediatric Emergency First Aid - FAA Level 3 - 1 day
This fully-accredited course is run by United Safe Care, part of the charity Diagrama Foundation, at our training centre in Chatham. To mark the launch of our training service we are offering this course at a significantly discounted rate to the first 12 learners.

WHY DO I NEED THIS?
The qualification is designed for learners with a responsibility for the care of children and babies and provides knowledge and skills to deal with a range of paediatric first aid conditions and incidents.

WHAT SHOULD I KNOW FIRST?
The FAA Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification is unit 1 of the two-day FAA Paediatric First Aid qualification. From gaining this Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification learners could progress to completing unit 2 and being awarded the 2-day FAA Award in Paediatric First Aid.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?
The purpose of the qualification is for the learner to attain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of Paediatric First Aid situations.

A range of subjects are covered including:

Role of the Paediatric First Aider

Primary Survey and CPR

Resuscitation (CPR including the safe use of an AED)

Wounds, Bleeding and shock

Seizure

Choking

Minor Injuries

Recovery Position

The qualification is assessed through practical demonstration, oral questioning and written assessment.

A learner must successfully pass both the written and practical assessments to achieve the qualification. There is no grading of the assessment, learners pass or are referred.

COURSE IS SUITED TO:
The qualification is available to learners aged 16 and over and is suited to people working in an environment with children, eg schools, nurseries, after school clubs, foster carers, childminders etc

Due to the practical nature of the first aid assessment there are physical demands and learners must be able to demonstrate their skills as in a real-life situation.

An example of this would be to demonstrate CPR on a mannequin at floor level.

It is recommended that learners should hold a minimum of level 1 in literacy or equivalent to undertake this qualification.

It may be possible to allocate a reasonable adjustment to a learner who has a disability, medical condition or learning need. Please contact us discuss your needs.

LENGTH OF COURSE:
1 day

QUALIFICATION:
FAA Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid. The qualification is valid for three years from the date of the achievement.

All learners will receive with a certificate of an attendance, which is included in the course fee. Should you require a certificate of qualification, please note there will be an additional charge of £10 per learner.
