Used by the Navajo, Zuni, and Hopi people… Come explore one of the most unique and low-tech ways to cast using tufa stone. This technique creates a distinctive surface texture that can be polished and manipulated in many ways. Learn the basics of tufa carving as you create your own pendant or earring design. After casting with molten silver, learn how to clean up and finish your jewelry creation. The instructor will also demonstrate how to explore possible design variations to create a limited run of one of kind designs, extending the life of your tufa stone. Depending on student, extra components produced in class can be used in the creation of earrings, bracelets, pendants, and rings. This class is limited to eight students. Tools will be available for use. Metalworking skills, and comfort with a torch required. (Age 16 & up)
Class Fee: $130 Materials Fee $40 payable to the instructor. 1 ozt. of sterling and tufa stone will be provided for each student. Extra silver will be available at an additional cost.
