Breastfeeding Intensive for Birth Professionals is a breastfeeding class geared toward birth and postpartum doulas, doulas in training, midwives, student midwives, nurses, chiropractors or anyone else who works with families during the post-partum period who wants to learn more about breastfeeding and how to support families. This class satisfies the breastfeeding class requirements for DONA International, CAPPA and other doula certification programs. In addition, you will have confidence in your ability to assist and encourage new moms through breastfeeding and be able to recognize when you need to refer them on to an IBCLC. The class includes:
-Basics of establishing milk production, including red flags to watch out for that may indicate supply issues
-Identifying common issues that occur with breastfeeding, such as plugged milk ducts, mastitis, thrush, tongue tie and alignment issues and how to manage them
-what to do when baby doesn't latch right away, including hand expression and choosing an appropriate alternative feeding method
-knowing when to refer on to a breastfeeding professional
Bottled water and light snacks will be provided.
Cancellations prior to 6/1/18 will receive a refund, minus a $10 administrative fee. If you must cancel because you are at a birth, please let me know as soon as possible via text (817-504-6947) or email firstname.lastname@example.org. In the event of cancellation due to attending a birth, you have the option of a full refund or applying the fee to the next Breastfeeding Intensive class.

I am a lactation consultant in private practice with more than 15 years experience assisting breastfeeding families. I have a passion for teaching about breastfeeding and for giving birth professionals the tools they need to effectively help breastfeeding families in the post-partum period.
