A film celebrating books as forms of resistance.

Lawrence Ferlinghetti—since 1950-- has been a radical resister to censorship of ideas by writing his own poetry and by publishing poetry of other radical resisters like Allen Ginsburg (Howl!). He used his famous San Francisco City Lights Bookstore—as both a bookseller and publisher-- as forms of resistance to the clampdown on writers’ First Amendment rights for half a century. He is still alive and active—he turned 99 on March 24th –and his most recent poem “Trump’s Trojan Horse” was published in the Nation last year.

Post-film speakers will include local authors who write about resistance to the war state, local independent booksellers who support radical books, local publisher of resistance literature.
