The Forest Preserve is excited to host "Inspired by the National Parks," a quilt exhibition. In celebration of the National Park Service’s centennial anniversary, quilters from across the country rallied a national effort to demonstrate their love of nature and the national parks. These are not your grandmother’s quilts. These are truly unique works of art, with each quilt often incorporating materials and objects reflective of the park it represents.

Having toured across the United States, this eclectic and highly impressive collection depicts 59 national parks in all. With three quilts for each park, 177 quilts are part of the collection and beautifully highlight each national gem’s unique flora, fauna, and landscape.

The exhibition opens Sunday, June 17 and runs through Tuesday, July 3.

Due to the large number of quilts, they are being split up and displayed at multiple visitor centers:

Four Rivers Environmental Education Center (CLOSED SATURDAYS)
Isle a la Cache Museum/Preserve
Plum Creek Nature Center at Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve
Sugar Creek Administration Center/Preserver

Tuesdays-Saturdays: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Sundays: Noon-4 p.m.
