In 2012, a partnership between the Fort Wayne Museum of Art and Green Hair Revolution began, whose efforts inspired the first Art of Hair event in May 2013 upon the launch of the Museum's debut exhibition of its collection of photographs by Michael July, an artist and author who set out to chronicle the "˜Fro and some of the country's most fascinating natural hair proponents. 5 years later, the event continues to grow!
Green Hair Revolution provides women, men and children with strategies and information for healthy hair care. Avid travelers, founders Sherry E. Early-Aden and Clydia Oladuwa had a unique opportunity to observe hair in all its glory overseas as well as in the US. After years of reflecting on the power and politics of hair, they realized that what they were witnessing was a revolution -- a RETURN to the places we had once been, before chemicals, before the assault on our Natural Selves had begun.
