La Tendre Melancholie, The Music Of Francois Couperin (1668 - 1733).
Join Yeo Yat-Soon, Harpsichord.
Prize-winning harpsichordist and distinguished teacher returns to Forty Hall with two programmes to commemorate the 350th anniversary of the birth of François Couperin. Court musician to Louis XIV, Couperin was the most romantic and poetic of harpsichord composers.
His elegant style is a musical echo of the intimate melancholy seen in the paintings of his close contemporary Antoine Watteau. Yat-Soon intersperses the music of Couperin with works by two of his English counterparts, Henry Purcell and William Croft.
