This workshop will introduce you to the basics of woodworking. In the morning you will be learning about wood species and buying, choosing and sourcing wood for your projects. You will be shown some basic sets of tools that will equip you to do woodworking. Proper use and safety of each tool will be demonstrated and tips for a safe working enviornment will be provided. A list of resources for building up your own set of tools will be sent home with you. In the afternoon you will be able to work independently on a project of your choosing that can be completed within a 3 hour time frame or one will be assigned to you. If you have a project that you would like to complete during the afternoon session you must submit it to me for approval prior to March 25th so that I can be sure to determine if it is do-able in the time given and that the materials will be available for you. Email or call me with your ideas and questions: 4windswoodcraft@gmail.com or (605)670-3300.
Some ideas appropriate for an introductory woodworking project are: a small pine bench
step stool
pallet sign
wood crate
small end table
birdhouse
