The above parent testimonial is a great example of how vision therapy can help with handwriting. To learn more, please join us for an informative workshop regarding vision and handwriting.
Dr. Robert Fox, OD, FCOVD will discuss how vision problems are frequently overlooked in children with poor handwriting. This is mostly due to poor screening procedures which doesn't evaluate how a child sees up close. Poor eye teaming, focusing, tracking, or peripheral vision can have huge effects. Children may experience vision that is blurred, doubled, or moves around on the page. Fortunately, most of these vision conditions respond well to treatment resulting in speedier progress with those working on writing skills. In our workshop, Dr. Fox will discuss the signs and symptoms of vision problems that can affect handwriting. Treatment options will be discussed as well.
Carrie Thompson, COTA, Vision Therapist, will discuss the following:
*Writing readiness -posture, strengthening, etc.
*Development of hand grasp
* Ways to practice handwriting using "Handwriting Without Tears" and other sensory modalities.
