The Randolph-Macon College Concert Choir, under the direction of Dr. Christopher O. Ryder, will present a concert on Thursday, April 12th at 7:00 pm. The concert is free and open to all. A variety of music will be presented, including music of England, America, and pieces by select female composers.
In recent years, the choir has performed a wide variety of repertoire both in the United States and abroad, including performances at the Washington National Cathedral, Duke Chapel, York Minster, Salisbury Cathedral, Thomaskirche Leipzig, Neapolis Conservatory in Kavala, and the Amphitheater in Ancient Ephesus. Repertoire has included Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, Gloria by Antonio Vivaldi, A Ceremony of Carols by Benjamin Britten, W. A. Mozart’s Requiem, Daniel Pinkham’s Christmas Cantata, John Rutter’s Magnificat, Mass in G by Franz Schubert, Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, and William Byrd’s Mass for Four Voices.
The 50-voice choir is the primary music ensemble of Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. Choir membership includes students in all classes, freshman through senior. These students also represent numerous and varied majors and minors, and further, represent various sororities, fraternities, student organizations, and athletic teams. The students rehearse a minimum of 3 hours per week.
The R-MC Choir will be joined by choral music students from Stafford High School and Mountain View High School. Please join us!
