New Years Day has become one of our favorite days. We gather with tasty soup made by local chefs, delicious bread and community!
And all of the soup and bread is FREE. Like, really free. We do a lot of fundraising events, but this one is for you. We want to give back to all of you great folks and help you get 2018 started off right.
We have 2 soup shifts!
12:00pm: Doors open and first soup shift starts.
2:30pm: Second soup shift starts.
***The soup lasts as long as it lasts! We have increased our soup tremendously this year!**
4-6pm: Live tunes by Sweet Sweet.
We have 12 (that's TWELVE!) chefs lined up to cook some tasty soup!
Marc C Jacksina of Earls will be making his Cream of Tomato Soup
Clark Barlowe of Heirloom will be making a Brocolli Cheese Soup
Geoff Bragg of Community Culinary School of Charlotte will be making Congee: an Asian rice and chicken porridge, usually topped with scallions, dried shrimp or pork and white pepper.
James W Swofford of The Chef's Farmer is making a tasty Posole
Bryan Moore of Noda Bodega will be making a Vegan butternut squash soup with walnut sage pesto and balsamic reduction.
Vance Lin of Farmhouse BBQ will be making a Heritage Breed, Grass-Fed Brisket soup with Sprouted Pinto Beans.
Paul Ketterhagen of Carpe Diem Restaurant & Caterers will be making a Borscht with celery root creme fraiche and dill.
Jose Espinosa and Rachel Klebaur of Orrman's Cheese Shop will be making a Cucumber and Coconut Soup.
Zack Renner will be making a Smoked Sausage and Pork soup with winter vegetables.
Luca Annunziata of Luca /Modern Italian Kitchen will be making a Tomato Bisque.
Gregory Collier of Atdawncafe and The Yolk will be making an African Peanut Stew.
Rodney Roden of Saltwater Markets will be making a fish chowder.
Dukes Bread will be providing the bread!
Your Moms Donuts will be out starting at 12pm selling their tasty donuts and Mysausagebuddy will be out all day in case we run out of soup, or in case you need another bite!
*Kids are always welcome!
***Please leave your furry kids (dogs) at home. It's going to be a full day and we need all the space we can manage***
