Event Schedule:
9:30-11:00: Walk-in oral histories and document scanning

11:00-12:30: Open round 3V3 battle (winners advance to championship round to take on winners of Battle of the New Years 3 and Battle for Fresno State, Championship Round)
*** Crews must register on-site before 11:00am to compete (no registration fee required).

12:30-1:30 Panel discussion on Fresno hip-hop history featuring Popin' Pete, Deborah McCoy, Charles "Goku" Montgomery, and Aren "DJ Hektik" Hekminian

2:00-5:00 Championship Battle

Battle for Fresno State, Championship Round invites back finalists from the Battle for Fresno State, Preliminary Round and Battle fo the New Years 3 to battle against each other and the winners of an event-day open round for the Battle for Fresno State crown and prize money!

The Battle for Fresno State Championship Round will also feature a discussion of Fresno and Central Valley hip-hop history with a panel including: Legendary Popping pioneer, Timothy “Poppin’ Pete” Solomon, Deborah McCoy of McCoy hip-hop, local b-boy legend Charles “Goku” Montgomery of Climax/Soul Control, and Grizzly Fest organizer and one of the primary architects of the central California hip-hop scene, Aren “DJ Hektik” Hekminian. Portions of the Straight Outta Fresno public history exhibit made up of material from the Straight Outta Fresno archive dedicated to the documentation of Fresno hip-hop history will also be up during the event.

Straight Outta Fresno staff will be on site to conduct walk-in oral histories with any community members who want to share their history and to scan any material (photos, flyers, etc) community members would like to share. All material gathered will be uploaded to the Straight Outta Fresno public archive which will eventually be hosted on Fresno State’s Henry Madden Library website.
