Press Release for Sober Nights Series at Friends4Recovery
Friends 4 Recovery Whole Health Center will be having live music, comedy, and other entertainment each Friday and Saturday night in April. Each Friday night will be a BYO Potluck and each Saturday, a whole health cookout. A $5 donation is requested but not expected. On site is a Pool table, professional darts, karaoke machine and great people to connect with in a safe and welcoming environment free of drugs and alcohol.
In addition, we will be launching the new CD songwriting project, using lyrics that focus on how great the recovery process has been for folks who have successfully dealt with an opioid addiction.
The location is 7420 Whitepine Road, in Chesterfield, Virginia, and the focus is promoting an alcohol and drug free sober destination for all, where people can still enjoy a social environment and good music.
On Friday, April 6, 2018, the first song will be written at Friends4Recovery on the spot, using words from an individual telling their story into a phone, using voice to text. Local jazz musician Jonathan Greenberg will take those words and create the lyrics, and perform afterwards, as will each songwriter on the next Friday nights.
Every Friday a new song will be written, until twelve songs are composed, to be later recorded for a fall release. Other songwriters coming up include Janet Martin, Amy Henderson, Eileen Edmonds, Pam McCarthy, Calvin Cecil, and more.
The Dirty Runaways will play April 7 from 7 to 9 PM with their unique style of classic rock and roll, along with some originals and new music. Look for lots more great bands from the area on the schedule, plus open mike nights, comedy, and acoustic jams.
