This class is designed to gently stretch strengthen parts of our bodies that are typically ignored, yet play a crucial role in our comfort, ease and strength in our daily lives. I have consulted with a physical therapist, two yoga instructors and a massage therapist to provide a targeted and effective routine that both strengthens and increase flexibility in the shoulder, hip and low back areas. It is was created with martial artists and people who have stationary jobs in mind, but really there isn’t anyone who wouldn’t benefit from this class.
We will start with a gentle warm up that resembles a modified sun salutation, then go into some dynamic and specific strength exercises, then into the passive stretching portion of the class. The class will close with a resting period to let your body absorb and integrate the work it just did.
We will do basically the same routine from class to class, but there may be variations that will evolve out of who is in class and what would be most helpful.
I did this class myself last week and not only did I feel better when I was done (I had a raging headache when I started) but I have continued to feel the benefit of if throughout the week!
