Learn about the significance of the Mesquakie Nation in the Driftless region, ways in which the lead boom of the 1820's changed the region, and the surprising specter of chattel slavery that came with it to the Fever River and beyond.

Dr. Eugene Tesdahl has served as an assistant professor of history at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville since fall 2014. In this position, he offers courses in early America, American women’s history, and Native American history. Tesdahl holds degrees in history from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa; Miami University in Oxford, Ohio; and the University of Colorado at Boulder.
