Friends of the Gary Byker Memorial Library of Hudsonville will present a free history program at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 12. The speaker will be Mark Style, retired teacher and printer, on the subject "The Eight Presidents Who Died in Office."

From 1841 to 1963, eight United States presidents have died in office; four by assassination. The New York Times mentioned that William Henry Harrison, the ninth president of the United States, holds a distinction that, with luck, will never be equaled: He was our shortest-serving president, dying on April 4, 1841, after just a month in office.

Style is the author of several books, including The Presidents of the United States. His interest in history is reflected in the five books he has authored: William and the Founding Fathers; The Founding Fathers of the United States; Into the Promised Land, Thoughts on Joshua and Judges; and Sodom and Gomorrah.
