Come to Gather on April 28 at 2pm to learn this incredible Ukranian tradition of decorating eggs! This is not an Easter thing - these eggs are beautiful and look great hanging in your house year round! The class is open to all adults and kids 12 and up! If they're younger and patient/open to learning, they are welcome, too!
From Caryn Slocum the insructor: Pysanka is a Ukrainian Easter egg decorated with traditional folk designs using the wax-resist method. The word pysanka comes from the verb pysaty, "to write" as the designs are not painted on but written (inscribed) with beeswax. The wax-resist method lets the design build little by little creating a beautiful, vibrant motif on the egg once the wax is removed. I fell in love with this method of egg decorating shown to me by my grandmother and have passed on the tradition to my children. I would love to share the gift of pysanky with you and spread the beauty of this Eastern European tradition!
The class will last 1-2 hours and costs $29. You will leave with two beautiful eggs! https://www.gatherharborsprings.com/events/psykany-eggs
