Irish research: Griffiths Valuation

Get Directions

#var:page_name# cover

One of the most important records for Ireland is Griffith’s Valuation, undertaken between 1847 and 1864, which includes information on properties across all of Ireland (including the location of each on maps). Bobbie Edes will give an in-depth, hands on approach to finding out how to make the best use of this great resource. Step-by-step instructions will be provided to take each attendee through to the location of one of their farming ancestors at the time of Griffith’s valuation. Ancestral homes in villages may also be able to be tracked in some circumstances. If you are feeling left out because you aren’t sure which ancestor is yours, then still come along so that you can learn the process, have a trial run with a random farmer and get to know the ‘lie of the land’ in your nook of the woods!
