Our society often has an unhelpful relationship with pain. We see it as something to fight and avoid at all costs. But what if pain is a useful evolutionary tool that has helped humans evolve for millions of years? From the perspective of osteopathy, yoga and psychology, this workshop will explore the scientific basis of pain. Use yoga to explore the sensation of pain and give attendees some tools to work with pain in the future.
This workshop with Annie Belcher yoga and Bill Adamson is suitable for: people that have pain, people that work with people in pain or people that are nerds that would like to know more. Our one request is that if you have been diagnosed with chronic pain or fibromyalgia please let us know before the workshop as we will slightly alter the layout of the workshop, and keep your information confidential.
Bill Adamson is an Osteopath at Errol St Osteo North Melbourne, a Director of Osteopathy Australia, RMIT lecturer, VU Clinical Educator. He is also a loud laugher that has been described as a baby giraffe learning how to walk on a yoga mat.
Annie Belcher is a yoga instructor, also trained in the arts of psychology, social impact and facilitation that has a passion for movement. Annie's ideal asana would include a cryptic crossword, a quiz and cake.
