Gears for Good – HFA C&O Canal Charity Tour, September 21-23, 2018
Join Get Out & Go Tours and the Hemophilia Federation of America, as we bike the C&O Canal and raise money for the Helping Hands Fund, which assists hemophilia patients who are struggling with medical bills.
We’ll meet near the end of the C&O Canal in Georgetown early the first morning to shuttle to the Paw Paw tunnel on the C&O Canal, where we’ll start using our gears for good, enroute to Washington, DC. The Helping Hands fund assists people with serious blood disorders to get care, and be cared for, when they can’t otherwise pay the bills. We’ll spend the next three days together, enjoying the C&O Canal, the small towns that border it, and perhaps taking an optional side-trip to Antietam Battlefield.
Our typical full support, gear shuttle, lodging, meals, cue cards, and mechanical support are all included. This means you can ride the whole daily distance, or just a portion of it, without worry. Riders cover 30-60 miles per day, depending on their interest and ability, make friends, and share a common goal, while learning about hemophilia.
Minimum sponsor pledge (which may be tax deductible and can be made via the website) is $1,000.00 (or about half the cost of a single dose of factor medication). Further details, sign-up, and sponsor pledging can be found on HFA’s website. Watch the videos from prior year rides.
Optional single occupancy $110 extra. Hybrid bicycle rental available, if needed, for $75.00.
