Kizomba Dance Workshops presented by Kizomba Ennis
with Tomás Keita and Claire O'Meara
Kizomba is a dance which originated in Angola back in the late 1970s & early 1980s. It since travelled to Europe and has been growing ever since.
Claire O’Meara, a native of Co. Clare, has been dancing for many years. After discovering Kizomba almost 5 years ago, she set up Kizomba Ennis and has been sharing her passion for the dance form in Ennis for almost 2 years.
Claire regularly travels abroad to Lisbon to train with the masters of Kizomba, as Portugal is a hub for the dance, She has recently started to teach Kizomba at festivals in the UK. Claire is delighted to have had the opportunity to train and work with Tomás Keita and is excited to collaborate with him on this project.
Barcelona-based Tomas Keita was born in Guinea-Bissau and is one of the pioneers of teaching Kizomba and African dance in Europe. He works in various dance academies in Portugal and has participated in international congresses for Kizomba. He is delighted to come to Ennis to share his passion with everyone.
