Written By Eugene O' Neil
Directed By Matt Foyer
The story of Marco Polo, dynamic young explorer of the Far East, as told by one America’s leading playwrights, Eugene O'Neill. Once described in a 1928 review "...a coruscating satire, biting in its irony, suffused with poetry, rich and dramatic in its simple story, and resplendently colorful in its background, atmosphere and imagery...", O'Neill clearly takes aim at the politics of his time, and ends up with a beautiful and poignant allegory for ALL time. Young Marco is a man eager for success - some might even say "destined" for it. But how that success is achieved, and what it might ultimately cost, becomes the focus of this rarely performed masterpiece.
