Functional Programming languages, once thought to be only a theoretical or mathematical tool, with no practical uses, is now becoming adopted even for web development. Its different approach, focused on the development of side-effects-free, black-box style functions, in a more declarative fashion, tends to produce more understandable, maintainable, and testable code. Even if JavaScript isn't, by definition, a fully functional language, its modern features fully enable working functionally, and considering that approach will give you new perspectives for the web in particular, and for development in general.

Speaker:
@Federico Kereki is a Systems Engineer from Uruguay, with a Masters Degree in Education, and more than thirty years’ experience as a consultant, system developer, university professor, and writer. He is currently a Subject Matter Expert at #Globant.

He has written books on development: “Essential GWT: Building for the Web with Google Web Toolkit” on GWT programming, and recently (December 2017) "Mastering JavaScript Functional Programming", precisely on the subject of this talk. He has a new book in the works, "Modern JavaScript Web Development", which is to be published around the end of 2018.
