It’s estimated that the amazon rain forest contains around 44,000 medicinal herbs, however only 1% of these have been discovered by science.
The Sacred Science follows 8 participants that travel to the Amazon jungle in search of healing.
Living in seclusion for one month in the heart of the jungle, with nothing but a mosquito net between themselves and the wilderness, these men and women have to survive the heat, bug infestations and their own inner demons all the while suffering from a plethora of mental and physical illnesses such as Parkinson’s, Diabetes, Prostate cancer and Alcoholism.
Not everyone returns from the jungle alive, however despite this and while being far away from the comforts of modern hospitals they discover that the Amazon rain forest can provide a profound healing experience all of its own.
This screening is part of Todmordens taboo breaking festival Pushing Up Daisies, 'A Community-Grown festival inspiring conversations around death and dying'.
