Holy Minimalism is a term applied to three 20th century composers, whose spirituality was inseparable from their art. John Tavener (England), Arvo Pärt (Estonia), and Henryk Gorecki (Poland) are innovative and progressive classical composers, whose music continues to inspire and transcend traditional boundaries. The class will explore their biographies and feature musical examples.
Anton Faynberg is an itinerant scholar, part-time philosopher, half-time musician, full-time jester. His interests include literature, poetry, music, and religion. He loves the warmth.
