This class will focus on seated meditation, utilizing the labeling/noting techniques as taught by Shinzen Young, an American-born Buddhist Vipassana meditation teacher. Evie will facilitate practices in a combination of guided relaxation, breath awareness, and labeling/noting techniques that will help you develop a simple practice of your own. In this busy world, our minds are often not in the present moment. These techniques will help you develop a better understanding of thought habits and the ways they affect your body and reactions to every day occurrences. Research has shown that mindfulness helps reduce stress and blood pressure, lowers risk for heart attacks, improves focus, and helps cultivate healthier habits.
