Saturday 28th April 2018 @ 7.30pm JOE TOPPING & SCOTT POLEY

We welcome back Liverpudlians Joe Topping and Scott Poley. In my opinion, Joe is the best male singer we have had singing for us at Grayshott in the seven years we've been going. He also happens to be a brilliant guitar player, a fabulous song writer and what's more, he's a really nice guy. Scott Poley is an exceptional guitarist and pedal steel guitar player who has played on some of my favourite albums with Cherry Ghost. Together they make some wonderful sounds and you might well ask:
"Why has it taken so long for you to invite them back to Grayshott again?"

A fantastically talented guitar player and songwriter from The Wirral, Joe Topping has toured the length & breadth of UK with his unique blend of British & American folk, with more than a hint of delta blues.

Joe also performs with Elbow Jane and Ashley Hutchings' Rainbow Chasers and he stood in for John Tams' role as a member of The Home Service in 2012

“A cracking album.” Mike Harding, BBC Radio 2
“A beautifully crafted album, played to perfection, fused with passion and heart” Maverick Magazine
“ Heartfelt vocal backed by intricate, intensely accomplished guitar work” fRoots magazine
“Book him for your folk club now, before he ends up on the guest list of every festival next summer!” Shreds and Patches magazine
“An innovative resonator guitar style and a real song writing talent” Folk on Tap

+ The Shackleton Trio
(formerly The Georgia Shackleton Trio)
play an exciting blend of Americana, folk and self-penned material. Accompanying herself on the fiddle, Georgia writes and performs 'wordy songs about other people’, instrumentally influenced by British, American and Scandinavian folk traditions, with a regional twist from her native East Anglia.

Georgia’s skills as a singer and instrumentalist have been put to the test in numerous different contexts, and this trio sees her teaming up with guitar powerhouse Aaren Bennett and mandolin ace Nic Zuppardi. Together they have toured the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands, appeared at Rotterdam Bluegrass Festival, Cambridge Folk Festival, Towersey Festival, Broadstairs Folk Week, Folk East, and concert halls and folk clubs across the UK.
