Last year, Newcastle University asked local children to help us develop a new 3D eye test to help children with a “lazy eye” or squint. The test was called ASTEROID - standing for Accurate STEReotest On a mobIle Device.

A thousand Newcastle kids took part – perhaps your child was one of them. Now, the results are in. We found that our new test agrees well with the standard 3D eye test. Children enjoyed our new test on a 3D tablet more than the standard test.

We are now working to make the test available to eye care professionals, so they can help children see better.

We will give a short update on the results. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and try out 3D activities while you enjoy some drinks and nibbles.

The event is suitable for adults and primary school children.
