Fairies and gnomes and magic, OH MY! We're happy to announce our Spring/Summer Musical Theater production, "The Magical Berries of Killarney Forest," an Irish folktale based on "The Fairy Tree of Dooros." Classes are held on Saturdays from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Center. Each child is given a speaking role *if they want one* and all kids are encouraged to sing and participate. No auditions, no pressure, just FUN!
Class includes theater games, team-building activities, singing, acting, dancing, improvisation, a quick snack/art break and more! Class is held at the Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Center, 6 Lake Ave., Danbury, just minutes from the Danbury Fair Mall. Worried your child is too young or will be too shy? Ask our longtime theater parents whose shy kids ended up stealing the show! Worried your 10-year-old is too big? Read what this mom wrote about my class:
"I wanted to write to tell you how much both of my girls have enjoyed the camp. This is our first experience at your studio with theater. For my youngest (age 5) it is her first experience ever in theater. My oldest (age 11) has done "musical theater" in school and other local studios. What a unique experience for her! For her to come in as the oldest (which, to be honest, she was a little concerned about) and to be given a senior role (not just in the cast but also in being an assistant to Wendy),vhas been so fantastic! I love this idea of kids helping other kids to learn new skills. I know both my girls would do this again for sure!" Best, Lisa S.
Our classes are fun, are welcome to kids of all skill levels and abilities, build self-esteem and a sense of teamwork in addition to teaching theater, vocal and performance skills-- valuable tools that will last them a lifetime!
Students should bring a ***nut-free*** snack and water/juice dress in comfortable clothing that is easy to move in (Leggings, sweats etc. No flip flops, dresses should have shorts or leggings underneath, hair pulled back).
NEW STUDENTS = $175 per session, tickets are an additional fee
RETURNING STUDENTS = $175 per student includes 2 free adult tickets
A final production will be held on Saturday, June 16 at 2 p.m. & 4 p.m. Tickets are $12 each for adults and $6 each for kids ages 3 and under. Proceeds will go to benefit the Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes the preservation and teaching of Irish heritage and culture and for who are interested in Irish heritage with a program of teaching, workshops and cultural events.
