Please join us for a FREE screening of ‘The Economics of Happiness’, a 1-hour documentary that illustrates the social and spiritual impact of economic globalization on local communities and economies, and highlights the many benefits of shifting towards the local.

‘The Economics of Happiness’ features a chorus of voices from six continents calling for systemic economic change including David Korten, Bill McKibben, Vandana Shiva, Rob Hopkins, Richard, Heinberg, Juliet Schor, Michael Shuman, Helena Norberg‐Hodge, and Samdhong Rinpoche ‐ the Prime Minister of Tibetʹs government in exile.

This documentary describes a world moving simultaneously in two opposing directions. On the one hand, government and Big Business continue to promote globalization and the consolidation of corporate power. At the same time, all around the world people are resisting those policies, demanding a re‐regulation of trade and finance ‐ and, far from the old institutions of power, theyʹre starting to forge a very different future.

Both hard‐hitting and inspiring, ‘The Economics of Happiness’ shows that countless initiatives are united around a common cause: rebuilding more democratic, human scale, ecological and local economies – the foundation of an ‘economics of happiness’. See how communities are coming together to re‐build more human scale, ecological economies based on a new paradigm ‐ an economics of localization!

This event is sponsored by Peaceful World Foundation.

This film screening is part of Sustainable Solano's community Conversations program bringing inspiring speakers and film screenings to Solano county in an effort to open dialogue and guide community conversations about meaningful topics relevant to global and local sustainable practice, conservation and social policy.
