An opportunity to learn, touch and turn the knobs of real hardware for a better understanding of how compressors work.

The first instalment in a series of exclusive workshops is calling out to those passionate for sound and music. Reformed gear slut and production aficionado George Leong bares all, and shares all, about his relationship with audio compressors.
He gives a low down of the form and functions from his collection of favourite VCA, FET and Opto-isolator hardware analogue compressors. He divulges secrets of what works best for him on each instrument track. He indulges in his favourite past-time, performing A-B comparisons of analogue units with their inspired software plug-ins. Participants get hands-on time to tweak and feel the knobs and their effects.

Or is this already too geeky for noobs? He's got your back — basic compression techniques and applications of compressors are covered — so no one gets left behind.

This boot-camp is held at legendary Greenroom Suite Studios in the Central Business District.

The compressors that will be demonstrated and discussed at this workshop are:
Solid-State Logic 4000 G Series Channel Compressor
Solid-State Logic 4000 G Series Master Bus Compressor
Tube-Tech CL-1b Tube Opto Compressor
Teletronix LA-2A Classic Leveling Amplifier
Urei 1176LN Classic Limiting Amplifier
