FRIDAY the 13TH of APRIL 2018 @: GRUMPY'S (125 Smith St, Fitzroy), 8PM - 1AM *FREE ENTRY (18+ ID required)*
Set times: TBA
For this first event a variety of styles will be represented on the night including: HARD TECHNO / INDUSTRIAL HARDCORE / DARKCORE / GABBER / CROSSBREED / DARKSTEP / TERROR / SPEEDCORE / FLASHCORE / BREAKCORE / POST-CYBERGRIND / SPLITTERCORE & EXTRATONE
DEP AFFECT [[THIRD MOVEMENT / INDUSTRIAL STENGTH / INDUSTRIAL PROPAGANDA / DARK DESCENT / GENOSHA]]
Dep Affect has been busy with hardcore since 2006, with numerous vinyl and digital releases on labels like The Third Movement, Industrial Strength Records, Industrial Propaganda Records, Dark Descent and Genosha Records with The Outside Agency.
With a techno undercurrent growing stronger in each releases, he recently found himself also making straight up industrial techno; which is when he teamed up with 14anger for the "Transcendence On Demand" vinyl EP on Tripalium Records; followed up shortly with EPs on Green Fetish Records, and KTRM and Tripped’s MadBack Records. These EPs received support from DJs like Dave Clarke, Martyn Hare, Umwelt and Minimum Syndicat.
With an aesthetic somewhere between rave and doom, Dep Affect is a strange mix of heavy grooves, brain twisting sounds and a cheerful (if slightly apocalyptic) vibe.
SPEEDLOADER [[TEKNO MULISHA / VIRUS / AKA / GABBER SOCIETY]]
DJ Speedloader has been scaring punters since 1991, creating havoc and smiles all round with his unique blend of hardcore and hard industrial tekno. Known mainly for exceeding the speed limits for, well, almost everything, and leaving a mass of sweating and exhausted people in his wake. After destroying crowds in Canberra, Sydney and across Australia, since moving to Melbourne he has been a resident at such hard music icons as Virus, AKA, Gabber Society, and for the last 10 years as part of the Tekno Mulisha crew- as well as guest spots at some fairly dodgy underground gigs here and interstate! Come and see why they still let this old bastard behind a set of decks and sweat it out with some of the hardest tunes of the last 27 years.
JOR TERROR [[P.O.R.N.]]
Jor first began DJing parties while attending high school in Holland in 1998. Always in the habit of playing faster hardcore tracks like Nasenbluten's 'Cuntface', he was thus dubbed with the name 'Jor Terror' to help a punter know exactly what one should expect from his sets. Having played seminal Dutch events including P.O.R.N. (Akira), Noisekiks Verouderings Process & Terrormachine. In 2003 (along with two other crew members) Jor started to also promote his own shows. Mainly spinning oldschool terror and hardcore with a focus on 93-94 era tunes (the period when nobody knew exactly what they were doing, a predicament which usually ends up resulting in the best music).
TYRANT X [[NETHERCORDS]]
Tyrant X has a diverse tracklist of tempered tastes and influences which have seen the creation of a monster in the style of industrial darkcore. Producing music as a means of survival and a force to bludgeon traditional sounds and old styles that have done their time, his musical tastes have constantly shifted from hardcore to industrial to darkcore. Abrasive textural hellish soundscapes are what to expect from the man behind the Melbourne-based Nethercords label.
NINJA GAIJIN [[SUBTERFUGE SEMINARS / TOXEMIA / THE GREY SEA]]
Beninja 'Tannu' Gaijin began playing in indie rock, improvised harsh guitar noise & grind/crust bands in 1997. Always passionate about music, Ben has worked in organizing and promoting parties, zine writing, music journalism/photography, hosting community radio shows, coding and maintaining band web-sites, band performances, djing, sound engineering, freestyle and written rapping and Tuvan & Mongolian style throat-singing. In 2005 Ben shifted focus from bands to solo work in electronic productions and dj performance. After various projects, he now finds himself performing under the name 'Ninja Gaijin'. Ben's music attempts to juxtapose and fuse as many eclectic tones and rhythms into as short a space of time as possible, allowing a focus on lack of repetition as well as an aim towards unexpected variations. For this event Ninja will be DJing hardcore, terror, speedcore, breakcore, post-cybergrind, flashcore & splittercore.
