What goes through the minds of the men and women who are protecting our nation? How well are we doing as a nation to support those same minds after lifelong service to Australia? Peter Leahy, former chief of Army, is the man who has one of the closest insights on this matter.

Lieutenant General Leahy AC is the Former Chief of Army (2002-2008). He entered the Royal Military College, Duntroon in 1971 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Military Studies. Since leaving the military, he has worked with various boards (such as Codan, Electro Optic Systems Holdings Ltd), became a Professor at UC, and became the Chairman of multiple organisations, including Chairman of the North Queensland Defence Advisory Board.

From his time in the Army, Leahy has firsthand experience and knowledge of the effects of PTSD, which is why he also sits as the Chairman on Soldier On, helping Veterans, AFP, Australian Border Force, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and other various security agencies.

Midweekers are FREE and available to women and men of all ages who want to come and listen to inspiring stories from our local men, as well as to understand some of the key issues facing young guys in our region. You don’t have to be a guy to come to a Midweeker – just interested in supporting young guys and their families.
