Watch this thrilling, Oscar-nominated animated film and find out more about the best-selling children’s book on which the movie is based from author Deborah Ellis.

"The Breadwinner" is the story of Parvana, an 11-year-old girl in Afghanistan growing up under Taliban rule. After her father is wrongfully imprisoned, Parvana disguises herself as a boy to move around freely and provide for her family. The story is powerful and hopeful. ( the movie and book as for ages 10+. The film is rated PG-13, 1h34min).

Snacks are provided, and Woozles will be there with copies of "The Breadwinner" for purchase.

This event is hosted by youth volunteers of Halifax Public Libraries.
