Create permanent textile designs using printing blocks which have been handmade by the tutor. Motifs for this workshop will be inspired by our local woodlands.
At this workshop you will print without a press onto fabric using professional heat fix printing inks. You will experiment with motifs and colours inspired by seasonal woodland flora and fauna. You will learn about blending colours, layering motifs and creating pattern design.
Once you have learned the basic techniques, you will have the option of printing your design onto either an organic cotton tote bag or onto a piece of calico that you may want to use as the basis of a cushion or quilt. Customers at previous workshops have made prints for appliqué work, cushions, patchwork, curtains, aprons and T-shirts. If you have a particular project in mind you can bring your own fabrics (must be light coloured).
Tea, coffee, soft drinks and homemade cake are included.
Please note: the workshop will remain open until 4pm following this class. If you would like to continue working on embellishing your piece, embroidery thread, beads, sequins and fabric scraps will be made available. You can also bring your own materials to add to your design. There will be an additional £5.00 charge for the afternoon, which can be paid on the day. THIS IS NOT A TUTORED SESSION.
