If you are brand new to yoga or want to reconnect with the fundamentals, this Yoga Basics Series is perfect for you!
Come enjoy a supportive and compassionate environment where everyone is a beginner. We will explore basic postures (asana) to get you moving, and breathing techniques (pranayama) to deepen your breath capacity and learn how to connect the two. You will learn how to keep your body safe in the postures, with an emphasis on alignment for healthy practice. You will learn Sanskrit, yoga terminology, discover meditation practices to quiet the chatter of your mind, release stress, and gain insight into the principles of yoga philosophy. Our intention in this series is to help you develop a love for your yoga practice.

We will take the first 4 weeks to break down specific postures used during a typical Hatha yoga class. Each week will have a specific focus and several different poses to work on. Our last week will integrate our first 4 weeks into a one hour Hatha class. Completion of this series will leave you feeling prepared & confident for ongoing classes at the studio or your home practice.

Meet Dawn:

Dawn has been practising yoga for 10 years and received her RYT200 Certification through the Red Door Yoga School under the instruction of Kavita Maharaj & Karen Waite.
As a nurse, Dawn has a strong medical background and is expanding her knowledge of "medicines" to now include not only modern Western medicine, but that of an Eastern philosophy as well. Dawn is continuing on with her RYT500 yoga teacher training and is also working towards her designation of Registered Holistic Nutritionist. She is eager to share the benefits of the combination of Western and Eastern disciplines with those around her.

Dawn enjoys teaching Hatha based yoga which is the foundation of her training, as well as Vinyasa, Deep Stretch and Restorative. She has also recently completed her Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga Teacher Training and is very excited to teach this next summer!

Dawn is grateful to be able to share her love of yoga with others. She hopes to inspire everyone around her on their journey towards a peaceful and calm body, mind & spirit.
