This is a new course for anyone interested in developing the skills and techniques to successfully paint buildings and architectural detail in watercolour.
Join art teacher Simon Cowper for a fun, practical art course in which you will learn to accurately paint and draw buildings. Starting with a basic building shape and some tuition on ‘perspective’ you will quickly develop a realistic depiction of a building on which you can apply simple watercolour washes. We will then look at techniques to depict architectural textures like stone, glass and brick. The final part of the course will show you how to create a watercolour painting starting from a photograph.
You will leave the course having completed a series of ‘step by step’ paintings on architectural themes.
The knowledge and skills gained will further develop your confidence to paint and draw buildings.
A basic knowledge of watercolour painting is desirable.
For the first session you will need to buy/bring:
• Watercolour paints (pans or tubes), large plastic palette, water container and a size 8 round brush.
• Good quality A3 watercolour or cartridge paper e.g. Bockingford
This course could lead on to:
Watercolour for beginners / Improvers landscape painting / Painting seascapes
