To support Loving Kindness (Metta) practice around the world, we meditate together on nights when there is a full moon. Metta meditation is an antidote to fear and anxiety, and a complement to the cool clarity of wisdom.
All are welcome: this practice is suitable for any level meditation experience, including beginners. It is a wonderful addition to any faith or life-affirming tradition.
The evening will includes guided Loving Kindness meditation, walking meditation, and silent sitting. We finish the evening by chanting the Metta Sutta, which are the Buddha's instructions on Loving Kindness. The chant is on page 46 of the Chant Book (https://www.zendust.org/files/ZCO%20chant%20book%20Jan%202014.pdf).
Newcomers are especially welcome. Loving Kindness meditation is a wonderful way to begin a meditation practice.
Afterward tea and cookies are offered.
