It started as a conversation between Henry on Eighth's Steve Lavell and Studio281's Leonardo Flavel...'let's make live painting in Maylands a regular thing.'
Leonardo organised for JODEE KNOWLES to live-paint the side of Henry on Eighth's building on May 1, 2016 and, since then, Henry has held three seasons of Live Art Mondays, curated in conjunction with emerging artist Bertie Louise.
How does it work? For three hours on a Monday night (6pm-9pm), an artist hits the stage with their tools while Henry's restaurant-bar crowd sits back and enjoys the spectacle. All patrons are welcome.
Steve Lavell has taken on Season 4 himself and is stoked to welcome Aidan Lee Smith to the Henry stage.
Aidan Lee Smith is an artist living in Margaret River, focusing on modern twists in acrylic portraiture, and regularly produces commissioned work.
In his own words:
"I am proudly self taught, and thus focus on experimenting with a range of techniques, styles and subjects. I am heavily influenced by Voka and Spontaneous Realism, graffiti and street art, and the layered palette knife work of artists such as Joshua Miels and Francoise Nielly. My works are most often large format and are characterised by bold colours, emotional raw brush strokes and extensive layering."
