This 4 week series is focussed on building strength, endurance, sequences and performance qualities for ambient aerial silks performances.
After an appropriate aerial warm-up each class will begin by building the muscular and cardiovascular endurance needed to sustain an ambient performance. We will then explore 1 or 2 sequences that lend themselves well to aerial silks animation with an emphasis on creativity and improvisation within the shapes.
The final hour of the class will be a practice of ambient performance beginning with 5 minute sessions and building up to 20 minute sets by the final week of class. We are thrilled to have Cheryl Ockrant joining us for the last hour of class to provide live music to perform to.
Pre-requisites: Students should be at an intermediate to advanced level of training on Aerial Silks to attend this class. This includes being able to execute inversions, hip keys (scissors) and footlocks in the air, sustain short sequences and to have a basic understanding of fabric theory.
