‘There won’t be many, if any, better guitar albums either side of the Atlantic this year.’ – Bebop Spoken Here, July 2017
However impressive their technique may be, it is certainly not showy – everything is at the service of creative expression.’ – London Jazz News, March 2017
Guitar virtuosos Maciek Pysz (Poland) and Gianluca Corona (Italy) take their audience onto a mesmerizing journey through the U.K.’s capital playing original, London-inspired compositions from their most recent Duo Album ‘London Stories’ recorded at the city’s legendary Eastcote Studio in spring 2017.
Clearly inspired by the great guitar albums of John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola & Paco de Lucía as well as duos such as Biréli Lagrène & Sylvain Luc, Pysz and Corona have created a strong musical statement following in the footsteps of their famous predecessors. With performances at long-established venues such as the London’s Vortex and the Bull’s Head under their belt these two musicians come with more than one good reference that makes their collaborative work highly commendable.
Expect an evening of beautifully spirited and melodious original compositions with undertones of Ennio Morricone and Ralph Towner. The concert will be followed by a Q.&A. session with the musicians, during which the bar will remain open.
